For your convenience any file that may be required during installation of Sorcerer is in this single directory. Please do not download all the files in this directory. Installing Sorcerer requires only 2 CDs. The first CD is the architecture specific bootable CD. The second CD contains source tarballs that can be compiled during installation. The steps prior to invoking the menu driven installer are: 1. Download both CD images 2. Uncompress both CD images 3. Write each CD image to a separate CD 4. Boot the architecture specific bootable CD An ISO9660 is a CD image ready to write to a CD. A file with the extention iso9660.7z is a p7zip compressed CD image file that must be decompressed before writing to a CD. p7zip is available from http://p7zip.sourceforge.net. Modern distributions of software already include p7zip since it provides excellent compression savings. The p7zip executable's filename is 7za. While a full p7zip compressed ISO9660 image can be downloaded directly from the webserver a BitTorrent for the p7zip compressed ISO9660 and a p7zip compressed sdelta3 update patch are also available for download. If no BitTorrents clients are currently file sharing the Sorcerer's p7zip compressed ISO9660s then the BitTorrent method of download may take forever. However, when those files are being shared the transfer might progress faster than downloading directly from the web server. The fastest method for acquiring new Sorcerer ISO9660s is to download the p7zip compressed sdelta3 update patches. Then, decompress the patches. Finally, apply the decompressed patch to an uncompressed previously downloaded Sorcerer ISO9660s. The newly generated image will be ready to write to CD. Lastly, there are two additional types of files not described above. Neither are required for installing Sorcerer. Files ending with .manifest provide more detailed information about what is available on the ISO9660. Files ending with .md5sum can be used to check the uncompressed CD image prior to writing to a CD is correct.
